Born of unity and nurtured by the creative genius of a group of dedicated student game designers, including yours truly, this three-month endeavor takes the form of an enthralling action-platformer, meticulously crafted with the power of C#. At its core, MOLEMAN stands as an exceptional 2D/3D platforming adventure, featuring the indomitable hero, Moleman. His legendary odyssey unfolds in the relentless pursuit to rescue his beloved wife, ensnared by malevolent forces that threaten to overrun the sanctity of their humble farmhouse.

This ambitious project seamlessly fuses the realms of 2D platforming action with an expansive in-world hub, where players unveil a treasure trove of power-ups and perks that prove pivotal to their quest. As players navigate a myriad of levels, each with a unique, themed boss, the world of MOLEMAN unfurls its enchanting tapestry of diverse settings and cunning mechanics that redefine the boundaries of the platforming genre. Beyond these formidable bosses, players are thrust into exhilarating ‘run and gun’ scenarios, reminiscent of the beloved “Cuphead.” These themed adventures bring to life a realm teeming with perilous obstacles and mini-boss encounters, testing players’ mettle in every conceivable way.

MOLEMAN transcends mere gameplay; it stands as a testament to the power of student creativity, unity, and determination, birthing an immersive adventure that invites players to unravel its enigmatic layers and embrace the extraordinary.

The development of MOLEMAN was an intricate tapestry of creative phases, each meticulously refined to bring this remarkable adventure to life. From the inception of our playroom and the meticulous crafting of our metrics room to the intricacies of level design, every facet was an intricate brushstroke in the grand canvas of our creation. Our development journey was marked by a commitment to excellence, utilizing “blockout” objects for rigorous testing, awaiting the moment when they would be replaced by the meticulously designed models that awaited their debut. The camera’s perspective was a constant focus, its angle painstakingly adjusted to capture the perfect viewpoint, while custom character movement was finessed with the precision of a maestro.

A defining feature of MOLEMAN’s gameplay was the creation of a unique combat system, where players wielded a variety of weapons, each with its own “super” and “ultimate” shots, offering players a dynamic arsenal to conquer their adversaries. Additionally, the game unfolded an array of enticing perks, bestowing additional heart points, bursts of invincibility, and other strategic advantages upon the intrepid player. In this particular project, my role was multifaceted. I had the privilege of crafting the high-octane ‘run and gun’ levels, sculpting their intricate environments and weaving together the tapestry of enemy AI and combat design. These levels became heart-pounding, themed odysseys, offering players a vibrant playground to test their skills and uncover the rich variety of mechanics MOLEMAN had to offer.

This developmental journey was a labor of passion and creativity, a testament to our commitment to bringing an exceptional experience to life. MOLEMAN’s rich, diverse, and meticulously designed world beckons players to embark on a legendary adventure, where every detail is a reflection of our dedication to excellence.
