A legacy brought into play.
The Nipsey Experiences bring Nipsey Hussle’s story and values into two interactive worlds within The Sandbox. Developed in collaboration with TMC, Massive Black, and Room 8 Studio, the project uses exploration, quests, and social spaces to reflect his commitment to perseverance, entrepreneurship, and community.
The two experiences have different purposes. Dedication Road offers a single-player journey through story and discovery, while Crenshaw & Slauson provides a multiplayer setting centered on connection. Together, they use the structure of play to introduce places, ideas, and interactions tied to Nipsey’s legacy.
My contribution
I was responsible for quest and story design, along with character, boss, and enemy design and enemy AI. I also provided light scripting support where needed within the wider production.
My work connected the narrative with the player’s actions and encounters. Across the project, quests and characters helped carry its themes into interactive form, while enemy and boss design supported the gameplay challenges. These contributions were part of the collaboration with TMC, Massive Black, and Room 8 Studio.

BEHIND THE EXPERIENCE
Design decisions
Dedication Road
The solo level uses quests, NPC conversations, and discoverable content to introduce different aspects of Nipsey’s story. Environmental cues guide movement while allowing players to choose how they explore and engage.
Crenshaw & Slauson
The multiplayer hub organizes movement around landmarks and shared spaces. NPCs provide context, while quests and interactive moments encourage players to discover the setting alongside one another.
Meaning through interaction
The experience connects its themes to what players do: explore, meet characters, discover stories, and gather in a shared place. Level layout and narrative work together to support a tribute that can be experienced through play.
